Hand thrown stoneware storage jar with pale grey glaze and rust detail. This jar has a perfectly fitted lid hand made from walnut timber.
Small pieces of rust, attached to the pot at the glazing stage, melt and react with the glaze in the kiln. The rust was foraged from my studio in Hoxton, an area in East London that was recorded in the Domesday Book as Hogeston. This is part of the Ferrous Collection - combining clay and iron in its many forms. You can read about the process (and see loads more photos) on my blog.
Both the glaze and wood treatment are food safe so this can be used as storage for any dry goods.
