The Story of Mun-kitty is a collaborative illustrated zine based on a beautiful and emotionally vulnerable letter written by Gerald Downes to his granddaughter in 2005. It chronicles his life with and enduring attachment to his little white deaf rescue cat. An introduction by Julia Downes provides insight into Gerald's life. I have provided original black and white illustrations on every page and a lovely three colour riso printed cover. Printed by the good folks at Footprint Workers Cooperative.
The deep connection to a beloved pet can often be a barrier for survivors to leave an abusive relationship as pets are rarely allowed in refuges. That's why we are donating £2 of each sale (£1 covers the printing costs) to raise funds for the Endeavour Project, a pet fostering charity for women and children fleeing domestic violence and abuse in NW England.
